Knowledge sharing in construction supply chains and its impact on innovation

Research Objectives

  • To investigate and document the construction industry’s perception of knowledge management and innovation in a supply chain perspective.
  • To examine the extent to which knowledge management impacts on process and product innovations.
  • To document the factors that promote and inhibit the impact of KM on innovations
  • To investigate and document the extent (and mechanisms employed) to which the impact of knowledge sharing on innovation is measured, with a view of documenting best practise and lessons learnt.
  • Develop a set of training materials (for the purposes of CPD) and for university curriculum, to improve awareness on how KM can contribute to construction innovations.

Research Methods

Case study, questionnaires and semi-structured interviews

Benefits/Expected Outcomes of the Research

Provide data to formulate training materials, which will increase awareness of Knowledge Sharing within the construction industry. Provide up to date information to be added to both undergraduate and post graduate curriculum.
